The protection of your personal data when using the CampusCard at Humboldt-Universität is important to us. Below you will find detailed information on data processing when using the CampusCard at Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin.

2. What types of data are processed and for what purposes?

Name, date of birth, matriculation number, photo (optional), semester information, library number, serial numbers, Mensa card number, log data are processed for use as a student ID card.

The Mensacard function is not part of the CampusCard app, but is operated by the Studierendenwerk Berlin.

3. On what legal basis is the data processed?

The legal basis for data processing of the ID card function results from Art. 6 para. 1 e) GDPR in conjunction with § 6a para. 1 sentence 1 no. 1 BerlHG in conjunction with § 3 para. 1, 3 StudierendendatenVO Berlin.

The ID card can be issued as a physical card or as an ID card app. Use of the student ID card app is voluntary.

4. Who is the recipient of your data?

When using the Mensacard function, the Mensacard number and the pseudonymous status (student yes/no; card loss yes/no) are transmitted to the Studierendenwerk without personal details. Necessary, non-personal data is transmitted to Google/Apple.

5. Will your data be transferred to a third country or an international organisation?

No personal data is transferred to a third country or an international organisation.

6. How long will your data be stored?

The storage of your data in the administrative systems of the Humboldt-Universität systems is based on the provisions of the Student Data Ordinance in accordance with § 4 StudDatenVO. The data in the CampusCard app will be deleted when the app is uninstalled. The data on the server will be deleted 3 months after de-registration.

7. Do you have an obligation to provide data?

The processing of data for student ID cards is based on § 6b para. 1 BerlHG, § 3 StudDatenVO. There is no obligation to use the CampusCard app. There is no obligation to use the Mensacard function.

8. Is there automated decision-making including profiling?

There is no automated decision-making in accordance with Art. 22 GDPR.

9. You have the following rights:

If your personal data is processed, you have the right to obtain information about the personal data stored about you (Art. 15 GDPR).

If incorrect personal data is processed, you have the right to rectification (Art. 16 GDPR).

If the processing is based on your consent (Art. 6 para. 1 a or Art. 9 para. 1 a GDPR), you have the right to revoke your consent at any time and without giving reasons for the future. The revocation does not affect the legality of the processing prior to the revocation of consent. To exercise your right of withdrawal, please delete the app. All data stored in the app will then be removed from your mobile phone. After cancellation, you will no longer be able to use the app. If you are not in possession of a physical ID card, you may not be able to prove your student status.

If the legal requirements are met, you can request the deletion or restriction of processing (Art. 17 and 18 GDPR).

Under certain conditions, you have the right to receive the personal data concerning you that you have provided to us in a structured, commonly used and machine-readable format if the processing is based on consent or a contract and is carried out by automated means (Art. 20 GDPR).

Insofar as the processing is based on Art. 6 (1) (e) GDPR and Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR, you have the right to object to the processing of your personal data at any time for reasons arising from your particular situation (Art. 21 GDPR). If you lodge an objection, your personal data will no longer be processed unless we can demonstrate compelling legitimate grounds for the processing which override your interests, rights and freedoms, or the processing serves the establishment, exercise or defence of legal claims.

The objection can be lodged informally. For reasons of proof, we ask you to notify us of your objection by post or e-mail. Please use the subject line ‘Objection’.

10. Right to complain

If you believe that the processing of your personal data violates data protection regulations, you have the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority, for example with the State Commissioner for Data Protection and Freedom of Information Berlin, Alt-Moabit 59-61, 10555 Berlin (Art 77 GDPR).
